Racism and discrimination are human rights issues. Whether institutionally or on an everyday/individualized level, racism violates a person's inalienable rights to dignity, equality, and freedom. The documents and organizations below promote anti-racism and anti-discrimination from within a human rights framework.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights
On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The UDHR is the world's most-translated document, available in more than 300 languages and dialects, from Abkhaz to Zulu.
Originally the Universal Declaration was conceived as a statement of objectives to be pursued by Governments, and therefore it is not part of binding international law. Nonetheless, it is still a potent instrument used to apply moral and diplomatic pressure on states that violate the Declaration’s principles.
